A total lunar eclipse took place on Sunday night, and area skywatchers were able to view the celestial event through occasional breaks in the clouds. The moon entered into penumbra around 8:11 p.m., umbra around 9:07 p.m., and totality began around 10:11 p.m. and lasted until roughly 11:23 p.m.
A crowd gathers Wednesday for the bonfire and Pep Rally in a field off Wetmore Avenue following the Kane High School Homecoming Parade. The unbeaten Wolves host Ridgway in the Homecoming football game Friday at the Paul R. Miller Stadium in Kane.
Wednesday
Homecoming parade, 6:30 p.m., followed by bonfire on Wetmore Avenue. Parade forms at 6 p.m. on Chestnut Street and proceeds north on Fraley Street to Wetmore Avenue.
Thursday
Kane School Board workshop, 6:30 p.m., administration building.
The former Cummings Funeral Home at East Main and Boyd streets in Mt. Jewett is now for sale. The funeral home has consolidated its services at its location on Greeves Street in Kane.

Wetmore Township Board of Supervisors, public hearing on liquor license transfer for Flickerwood Wine Cellars, 6:30 p.m., township building, Spring Street.
Supports have been erected for the canopy over gasoline pumps at the new Country Fair convenience store in Kane. The site on Biddle Street (Route 6) is between Hacker and Welsh streets. The store is expected to open in late October or November.
