Kindergarten registration numbers climb from last year

A total of 71 students were registered Thursday for the start of kindergarten classes in August at the Kane Area Elementary School.
This total, which is expected to rise, is 21 more than the 50 who were signed up on kindergarten registration day a year ago.
Jeannine Kloss, principal at the elementary school for kindergarten through fifth grade students, said she expects at least 15 more to register for the 2020-21 kindergarten class.
The number of incoming kindergarten students appears to end a long-time slide in kindergarten enrollment in Kane. The exact number of new kindergarten students is expected to fluctuate over the summer months as families move in and out of the Kane Area School District.
